The Ford Mustang gets new changes for the 2018 model year, but the changes will not include the 2018 Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R. The most important update for the 2018 Shelby models is only the addition of three new colors: Kona Blue, Orang Fury, and Lead Foot Gray.
Ford group vice president, Global Product Development, Raj Nair, said, "When we started working on this car, we wanted to build the best possible Mustang for the places we most love to drive -- challenging back roads with a variety of corners and elevation changes, and at the track on weekends." "Every change we made to this car was driven by the functional requirements of a powerful, responsive power plant -- nimble, precise handling and massive stopping power."
Ford's brand new Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R won't be getting any upgrade to its engine or body. But it won't disappoint potential buyers, as the newest Shelby boasts a 5.2-liter V8 engine that produces 525 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. It comes with an aggressively designed exterior that can turn every head on the road.
The new muscle cars will also come with an Electronics Package that adds the latest Sync infotainment system, a nine-speaker sound system, and voice-activated navigation. Ford is also offering a Convenience Package that will replace the manually adjusted Recaro seats with a 6-way power adjustable seat with heating and cooling functions plus suede inserts.
The automaker also said that the cars continue with engine oil, transmission and differential coolers as standard. These were the first option for a few GT350 models, though Ford has decided to make it standard for this year. Owners of earlier cars have reported that they had experienced overheating problems.
Other standard features include magnetic dampers and a Brembo brake package that features a 6-piston calipers and 15.5-inch discs on the front axle. The 2018 Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R will be available in showrooms this coming fall. Pricing details will be revealed closer to the market launch.
