The latest news on Apple's smartphones for this week is that the Cupertino-based tech giant is set to release 3 new models in celebration of the iPhone 10th anniversary. There will be 2 improved handsets and one radically designed "premium" unit.

The tenth anniversary iPhone model, according to Bloomberg's Apple guru Mark Gurman, will not have a curved OLED display but instead will have curved glass on both the front and back. The report also noted the Cupertino-based tech giant is planning on its most extensive lineup of iPhones to date.

Also, the premium model could be delayed by 1 or 2 months due to the difficulty in manufacturing the handset. In fact, according to people familiar with the source, the Cupertino-based tech giant is testing a touchscreen covering almost the whole front of the device and reportedly incorporating the fingerprint sensor into the screen.

This is similar to what Samsung planned for the Galaxy S8 but to no avail, as they found its implementation to be a bit tricky. Instead, the company placed the sensor next to the camera on the rear of the phone.

The screen of the premium iPhone device will be larger than that of the iPhone 7 Plus, although its overall size will be similar to an iPhone 7. It will come also with more advanced cameras and stainless steel components.

The two other phones, on the other hand, will still use liquid crystal display technology. The sizes will be the same, 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, which are the same as the 2016 iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. But these could still change, in terms of design and features of the devices.

Since the iPhone first launch in 2007, it has become Apple's most important product, providing 2/3 of the company's overall sales. This device has also led consumers to purchase other Apple devices like the Apple Watch and iPad. Thus, 2017 will be a critical year for the company to maintain its status and celebrate the 10th anniversary of its flagship device.
