Volkswagen is preparing a powered-up version of the T-Roc. The car manufacturer has revealed that the company has considered creating a revved up version of the T-Roc if the original proves to be a success on the market and the need for a more powerful vehicle springs up.

It is shared by Car Scoops, that the Volkswagen T-Roc may meet its R version. At the moment, the manufacturer is waiting to see what the car’s success will be on the market. It case it sells well and the need for a more powerful version of the car arises, they will be ready to add a few improvements to the design. Frank Welsch, Volkswagen’s head of development shares that it will not be hard for them to re-work the existing model.

Since the T-Rock shares its underpinnings with the Audi Q2 and Seat Ateca, adding a more powerful engine in the existing body will not be hard at all. A good choice for this change would be the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Golf R engine, which delivers 310 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, of course, the numbers will be lower with the T-Roc’s increased weight.

At the moment, the Volkswagen seven-seat SUV Atlas has been released in China and the U.S. Europe is considered as a market, but Volkswagen is afraid that it may get in a direct competition with the T-Roc, lowering the sales on both the models.

In the middle of 2017, the T-Roc boosted R series is expected to receive a reveal, before the first official showcasing of the new automobile. In late 2017, a new Touareg will be introduced, the style of which will go in unison with the now, well established T-Rock. The Volkswagen T-Roc R series has not yet been officially announced.
