The Federal Reserve announced that it will begin releasing a redesigned $100 bill this fall, over two years after its initial targeted date.
The new targeted date has been set for Oct. 8 according to the Associated Press.
The redesigned bill incorporates added security features like a blue, 3-D security ribbon and a disappearing Liberty Bell in an inkwell.
The features were designed to help prevent people from creating counterfeit copies according to the Federal Reserve.

The initial release date was scheduled for Feb. 2011, but back in Dec. 2010, officials announced an "indefinite delay." The official reasoning for the delay was blamed on production issues that left "unwanted" creases in many of the bills.
"We made numerous process changes to address the creasing issue and we are back in full production," said Dawn Haley, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, according to the Associated Press.
Benjamin Franklin's portrait will still be featured on the $100 bill, something many people have been worried about since the changed was announced three years ago.

The $100 bill is the highest value denomination in general circulation, and is the most "frequent" target of counterfeiters according to Haley.
The redesign process began back in 2003 when the government added a little more color to the $20 bill. Makeovers to the $5, $10 bills followed shortly, but the Federal Reserve has announced the $1 won't be receiving any updates in the near future.
