"Dragon Ball Super" Episodes 86 and 87 seem to have glued onto Goku's recruitment of Android 17 to join Universe 7 team. However, Ep. 87 has been making such a buzz as weekly Shonen Jump has not published any images of the upcoming episode.
Entitled "Hunt the Poachers! Goku and No. 17's Joint Battle!" the synopsis for the upcoming episode has instead been published by the weekly V-Jump magazine. Here is the synopsis. "When Goku asks 17 to join the tournament, he turns his offer down. The two then sense something approaching and see a spaceship in the dark sky."
In fact, Ken Xyro (@KenXyro) posted on Twitter the magazine's translated page, tagging @YonkouProd for the raw scan.
In a way, technically, Goku and Android 17 have not met before in person thanks to their conflicting timelines. Goku was recovering from a lethal heart disease and only had visions of then-villain Android 17. This was the time when the then-villain was introduced in "Dragon Ball Z."
When Goku got back, Cell has already absorbed Android 17, although he did play a role back in "Dragon Ball GT." So, technically, "Dragon Ball Super" Episode 86 was their first meeting.
The question remains whether or not Android 17 will join Goku's team. Also, Gohan will begin training under his Uncle Piccolo's tutelage. So, we won't probably see him for a while.
And it seems, as a review of the previous episode, 86 stood out since the new "Universal Survival" saga began. It offered great fights as Android 17 was introduced to love nature, a nod to Android 16's love for the outdoors, but has received immense power level increase. He even remarked that he was still holding back when he deflected Goku's Kamehameha while in Blue form.
Episode 86 has set a high bar for the upcoming episodes and how recruitment for Universe 7 will pan out. And how will Android 17 fit into the story as he is as intimidating and powerful as ever.
Catch "Dragon Ball Super" Episode 87 on April 23. The show will air on Crunchyroll on Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST and Toonami's Adult Swim with English dub on Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
