An early design of the Samsung Galaxy S8 has surfaced, hinting at what can be expected on the Galaxy Note 8. The leaked prototype has revealed a key feature that did not make it to the flagship smartphone but will make it to the phablet.
Photos posted on Twitter by tech blogger Eldar Murtazin reveal the frontside and backside of what looks to be a Galaxy S8. There is one thing that is different: the dual-camera sensor at the back. To recall, Samsung's newest flagship sports only a single camera.
The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to have a dual-camera set-up, so the leaked design of the Galaxy S8 pretty much spells what the phablet is going to look like. It will likely have the admired Infinity Display at the front, and the set-up of the S8's canceled model.
Another key detail that can be gleaned from this is the location of the fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S8 has it beside the camera at the back, leading many to question Samsung's aesthetic decisions. It is notably missing from the prototypes, so where is it?
Reports state that the Korean company originally planned the scanner to be placed in front, under the display. Due to technical problems and lack of time to complete its development, Samsung had no choice but to put it in an awkward position at the back.
Since the Galaxy Note 8's release date is still months from now, the tech giant has enough time to finish what it set out for. It is likely that consumers will see the fingerprint scanner integrated into the screen.
Combine this latest development with the previous leak, the mobile community pretty much knows what the Galaxy Note 8 is going to look like. It will still have a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and an S Pen.
The Galaxy Note 8 will also have a 4K display in contrast with the S8's 2K screen resolution. Accompanying the curved display is the selfie snapper and the iris scanner. Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, 6GB of RAM, and up to 256GB internal storage.
