The 2018 Mercedes-Benz SL will grace users with a more spacious cabin and a top notch engineering. AMG boss Tobias Moers finds their 2+2 layout sensible because it offers more space.
In 2016, AMG was tapped to create a two-seat luxury coaster by Mercedes-Benz Development Head, Ola Källenius. This is in-line with the company's plan on creating a sportier design on their new SL cars.
An anonymous insider explained the 2018 Mercedes-Benz SL will be different from their current models. The insider also stressed that AMG is currently creating the new SL model, even though its plans are being kept secret as of to date.
There are also rumors circulating that the new Mercedes car will have a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder engine. One of its version, the SL 300, is planned to have the ability to deliver 365bhp. It can also have an additional turbocharger boost pressure and other power enhancing system.
Another version of the 2018 Mercedes-Benz SL, the SL 500, will have a 4.0-liter V8 engine that has the capability of around 455bhp. Two of the car's version the SL 63 and SL 65 will also have an amazing engine.
SL 63 will have a 500bhp AMG turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. On the other hand. SL 65 will have a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine that can produce 621bhp.
According to previous reports, the SL will not have the standard folding metal roof that was introduced on the company's R230-generation car in 2001. Its removal resulted in a dramatic decrease in the car's weight. Aside from that, there are speculations that this car will undermine SLC roadsters in the future.
Since 2015, Mercedes has been on the verge of creating a better look for the SL. The current model, SL 63, has the ability to produce 577bhop that is the same as the E 63S. So far, there has been no official reports on the exact launching date of 2018 Mercedes-Benz SL.
