Nintendo NES Classic Edition will be discontinued that is upsetting a lot of Nintendo users. The company announced that it will be handing out the last shipping of the classic console this month.
So far, Nintendo has not given an official reason on why it would be discontinuing the console. However, users are already speculating as to why Nintendo announced this.
Som users believe that there might be some licensing problems on the classic games. Some speculate that it might be because of profit margin problems or it might be trumping down Nintendo Switch Sales. Whatever the reason, it is important to note that Nintendo NES Classic Edition will not be around anymore.
"Throughout April, NOA territories will receive the last shipments of Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition systems for this year. We encourage anyone interested in obtaining this system to check with retail outlets regarding availability," a Nintendo representative explained.
"We understand that it has been difficult for many consumers to find a system, and for that we apologize. We have paid close attention to consumer feedback, and we greatly appreciate the incredible level of consumer interest and support for this product," the representative said.
Another representative also explained that Nintendo NES Classic Edition was not meant to be an ongoing and long-term product. However, there was a high demand for the product that is the reason why the company added extra shipments of its console.
With the discontinuation of the console, is the continuation of its controller. The company also announced that it will also discontinue the NES Classic Control.
For third party accessories, Nintendo stressed that the continuation of its accessories will depend on its manufacturers. As for NES Classic and NES Famicom Mini, there has been no confirmation if this two consoles will also be discontinued.
