Very recently, the Jeep Yuntu concept was presented at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. The images showed a lot of promise as it is a three-row concept equipped with state-of-the-art technology upon release if it ever happens.
Industry experts and car enthusiasts were impressed. With this, the question remains if it will just be a mere concept or if it has chances of hitting the assembly line for production in the near future.
Jeep has been teasing on its concept for Shanghai Auto Show until recently when all high-resolution images were made available. The concept is called "Yuntu" and is a three-row SUV which has a highly futuristic exterior design but sticks to the unique ruggedness of the Jeep brand.
The front features a raked windscreen while the corporate seven-slot grille is surrounded by a pair of slender LED headlights. The side profile has the familiar wheel arches with plastic body cladding. The door handles also appear to be joined in the middle suggesting that the Jeep Yuntu has suicide doors.
There is also a "PHEV" lettering which suggests that the concept will have a plug-in powertrain. Technical specifications, however, are still not available at the moment. Given its futuristic look, expect for the Yuntu to boast with the latest automobile technology that Fiat Chrysler can integrate into a three-row, seven-seater SUV.
The Jeep Yuntu is also expected to only be sold in China. This is understandable, especially that plug-in hybrids are introduced in the Chinese market to lessen the effects of air pollution. Just recently, Ford announced that it will also have its hybrids in China by 2018 and has plans of going full electric by 2025.
This may well be Fiat Chrysler's answer to Ford's lead. The final production version is reported to be built by the joint venture of Fiat in China with Guangzhou Auto. The Jeep Yuntu is an exceptional SUV if it ever comes to fruition. The Chinese market should be on the look out as this concept may come to reality in the next few years.
