The year 2018 marks 65 years since the first Chevrolet Corvette was made. The first Corvette was introduced in 1953 at the New York Auto Show. The convertible gained enough interest around it, and on June 30, 1953, GM decided to start with production of the car.

According to The Drive, in order to celebrate the 65th anniversary, Chevrolet has created the carbon fiber-heavy Corvette Carbon 65 Edition that is limited to 650 units. The Carbon Edition is only available on the 3LT trim levels of the Corvette Grand Sport and Corvette Z06. All 650 cars will come in Ceramic Gray paint with special door and fender graphics that include the phrase “CARBON 65”. As expected, the package consists of carbon-fiber elements inside and out. There are visible carbon fiber ground effects, spoiler, and part of the hood. The coupes will get carbon fiber roof and intake ducts. While the convertible gets a carbon tonneau cover to go with its blue soft op.

On the inside, the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette Carbon Edition is equipped with Competition Seats clothed in Jet Black suede with blue stitching. Everything that is not covered in soft-touch materials is made out of carbon fiber, including the steering wheel.

As reported by Net Car Show, other features include black wheels with machine grooves, blue brake calipers, center caps with Carbon Logo, Carbon Flash badges and outside mirrors, Carbon 65 Edition sill plates, and more. The Chevrolet Carbon 65 Edition package costs $15,000 and it will be available in summer 2017.

To put into perspective, the Grand Sport Carbon Edition starts at $91,190, and a Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition Starts at $104,390. On top of the Carbon Edition, Chevrolet also announced updates on the 2018 Corvette, which include ceramic brakes on the Grand Sport trim without having to order the Z07 Performance Package, and Magnetic Ride Control on the Stingray as a standalone option.
