New Audi A8 with High-tech Features and New Styling Direction Debuts in Summer 2017

The new Audi A8 is reportedly going to be launched in the summer with advanced technology features and a new design. Part of this high-tech features includes the use of lightweight materials.

The D5 which is the "next generation" Audi A8 will consist of a sedan body structure and four major materials for its Audi Space Frame (ASF). These lightweight materials are steel, magnesium, aluminum, and carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP).

The use of these four materials and the new design will enable the next generation Audi A8 to enhance its torsional rigidity compared to the previous model. The rear panel of the new Audi A8 will be composed of CFRP and typically contributes to 33% of the overall torsion of the vehicle.

Fourteen different joining processes are used in the manufacturing of the new Audi A8 including roller hemming of the rear and front ends, enabling a good view of the car body. Aluminum comprises 58% of the new Audi A8's car body, including the cast nodes and sheets.

Advanced autonomous car driving is possible with the new Audi A8, reported Autoweek. The new Audi A8's Level 3 autonomous functions will allow the AI-controlled Audi A8 driver to take over during heavy traffic. It will also take over the driving on highways with speeds of up to 60 kph or 37 mph.

The Audi A8 enables the person to drive without having to worry about hitting anyone because of the AI-generated function. Another advanced feature includes a new operating system that is "highly intuitive" and can create groundbreaking computer-powered operations.

Audi continues to build its next generation Audi A8 in Neckarsulm, Germany. The most recent, advanced Audi A8 will be launched in Barcelona on July 11 this year during Audi's first auto summit.
