2017 Genesis G80: A More Affordable Than Similarly Equipped Luxury Sedans

The brand new 2017 Genesis G80 mid-luxury sedan provides a combination of segment-leading safety features, human-focused technology, and refined performance. The new G80 comes with advanced safety technology with a handful of active safety features for superior passenger and vehicle protection that includes Automatic Emergency Braking.

It comes with a modern design through a distinctive exterior styling that has a sleek and upscale look. It also features a beautiful hexagonal front grille. The single frame crest grille makes sure that the front end of the car is not only striking, depicted in semi-gloss chrome, but also encompasses standard Bi-Xenon headlights that come with LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights.

On the inside, the new 2017 Genesis G80 has a roomy cabin that has more interior volume compared to its many rival sedans. The materials on the dash, doors and seats are excellent as any in the class, and there is no visible interior piece or panel with even a whiff of cost-cutting. Similar to the cabin, the G80's trunk is also expensive with a generous opening for easy loading. Measuring at 15.3 cubic feet, it's very large for the segment.

The new G80 is a full-size, rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan that is available in 3.8 (V6) and 5.0 (V8) versions, with AWD as an option for the 3.8 version. Both are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles.

The 3.8-liter V6 produces 311 hp and 293 lb-ft of torque. The EPA fuel economy for the rear-drive is estimated around 22 mpg in combined driving (18 city/25 highway). The 5.0-liter V8 engine makes 420 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Estimated fuel economy is rated at 18 mpg combined (15 city/23 highway).

When it comes to safety features, the 2017 Genesis has a lot to boast. It comes standard with antilock brakes, active front head restraints, traction and stability control, front and rear side airbags, dual front airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and a driver-side knee airbag. Other features that also comes standard is the Genesis Connected Services, a vehicle locator, an SOS button, remote door unlocking and remote start, on-demand roadside assistance, stolen vehicle slowdown/immobilization/recovery and turn-by-turn navigation, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, frontal collision warning and an automatic emergency braking system, and lane departure warning and intervention.
