The new Audi TT RS is all set to debut at the New York International Auto Show later this month. The 2018 TT RS is expected to be the most powerful street-legal TT ever and will retail at around $65,000.
The 2018 Audi TT RS. The new TT RS will come only as a coupe and standard is a seven-speed S Tronic dual clutch transmission. It will run on a 2.5-liter inline-5 TFSI engine with an output of 400 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The engine is 57 pounds less than the one on the previous model.
The vehicle will be able to send almost 100 percent of its torque to the rear wheels with its standard all-wheel drive system with a performance-oriented traction control system. It is claimed to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.6 seconds.
The 2018 TT RS will be able to reach a top speed of 155 miles per hour. However, this can go up to 174 miles per hour with the optional Dynamic Plus package which will also bring a more aggressive tune for the vehicle's suspension.
Other standard features of the new TT RS include a magnetic ride suspension, LED lights, 8-piston brake calipers, and a digital instrument cluster. The interior will have a mix of Alcantara and leather trim as well as sport seats.
In terms of performance, the 2018 Audi TT RS is an impressively fun sports car to drive in. Although one would expect a perfect 50/50 balance in sports car's drive system, it is still able to pull off even with the front being heavier instead of the rear.
It should be noted that this TT RS is offering the same mechanical package underneath with the more practical Audi RS 3. The vehicle is expected to be made available in summer of this year at the $64,900 plus a $975 destination charge for a total of US$65,875.
