The 2018 Subaru XV was recently released in Japan. The Japanese are expected to be big fans of the SUV because of its promised performance. Its aesthetics don't disappoint as well. The XV released in Japan, however, has slight variations as what is to be seen in the US.
The XV and Impreza had different engines offered globally and it also included a diesel. In Japan, however, the 2018 Subaru XV 1.6i produces 115 PS and 6,200rpm and 148Nm of torque from 3,600rpm. This means it is 1-horsepower more and 2 less Nm as compared to the outgoing model. It is also presumed that this may be available in the XVs to be released in Europe.
The fuel consumption is expected to be the same for both XV powertrains. For the 1.6i, it returns 16.2km/l and 16.4km/l for the 2.0i powertrain. There are also minor changes made such as the 18-inch wheels for a considerably bigger engine. There are LED side indicators and shark fin antenna as well.
All of the 2018 Subaru XV models will come with X-MODE system as standard. This technology is borrowed from the Forrester. This technology is geared to provide the SUV with better off-road traction and better cornering.
The XV will also be vastly safe as it is also equipped with the EyeSight system as standard. Apparently, the Impreza already had this safety technology which is why it is a highly-decorated vehicle. It won Japan Car of the Year and received the highest score from the Car Accident Control Organization.
The 2018 Subaru XV will come as the new Crosstrek in the US. The 2018 Subaru XV Crosstek to hit the US will receive 152-horsepower H4, sharing the same specs as the US Impreza. The base and premium trims will come standard with a six-speed manual and an optional CVT. Sharing the same as the one's launched in Japan, the US Crosstrek will also receive EyeSight as an option in higher trims.
