Ford unveiled this week their special edition performance Raptor pickup truck set to be released to the public later this year.
The announcement by Ford comes just two weeks after Shelby America introduced a Ford Raptor at the New York Auto Show.
The F-150 Raptor will not include any mechanical changes compared to the base Raptor model released in 2010, but will include a massive update to the exterior. The truck will be painted ruby red metallic accented with unique graphics on the vehicle's bed according to Ford.
As mentioned, the specifications will remain the same for the new Raptor. A 6.2-liter V-8 engine is standard, producing 411 horsepower and 434 lb.-ft. of torque. The model includes a standard six-speed automatic transmission, limited-slip differential, and Fox Racing Shocks according to a company press release.
The base Raptor has been a popular model for Ford said to Doug Scott, manager of the company's truck group. As Ford's fastest-selling vehicle at dealerships, the average time a vehicle is at a lot is approximately 15 days according to Scott.
Ford sold approximately 13,000 Raptors in 2012 according to the Los Angeles Times. Sales are up 14 percent already in 2013.
The base Special Edition model will be sold for approximately $44,915 including the destination charge according to USA Today.
A luxury package will also be available to customers which will include a number of features like a rear-view camera and an upgraded stereo system. This model will be sold for $49,675, including the destination fee.
Ford has confirmed that the new Raptor might be the last of its generation for the entire F-150 lineup gets redesigned, making the model even more attractive to interested owners despite the lack of specification changes.
