Chrysler Recalls 263,000 Vehicles Globally For Six Separate Issues

Chrysler Group has revealed that they'll be recalling over 263,000 vehicles world-wide for six separate issues according to Reuters.

The third biggest U.S. automaker said that 139,000 vehicles released from 2011 through 2012 will be recalled to correct "improper warning-light illumination."

The company found the seat-side airbag wiring harness terminal that did not meet specifications after receiving a number of complaints regarding the airbag warning-light.

Chrysler isn't sure if any accidents or injuries have occurred relating to the waning-light issue as of press time.

Affected vehicles include the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300. Approximately 119,000 vehicles were sold in the U.S., 7,000 in Canada, 880 in Mexico, and 11,000 outside of North America.

Approximately 78,500 older Chrysler 4-by-2 SUV models are being recalled to fix a heat shield that can loosen and come in contact with the driveshaft, causing potential breakage over time according to Reuters.

Chrysler will reportedly install a new bracket to the shield in place.

The recall comes after approximately 40 complaints of broken driveshafts in 2007 and 2008 Dodge Nitro, Jeep Liberty variants sold outside the U.S.

SUVs equipped with 4-by-4 drivelines are not a part of the recall according to Reuters.

Approximately 61,400 SUVs in the U.S., 1,000 in Canada, 13,700 in Mexico, and 2,300 outside North America will be recalled.

Chrysler is also recalling approximately 30,000 SUVs from 2012 to replace the vehicles' fuel-tank transfer tubes to ensure "the proper flow of gasoline" according to Reuters.

A worldwide material shortage forced a design change and material substitution, but Chrysler said it discovered the new material did not maintain the necessary shape and the fuel flow could be limited. That issue created the potential for a stalled engine in extremely hot weather.

Chrysler said it was aware of one accident related to the issue, but no injuries were reported.

Jeep Compass and Patriot SUVs will be recalled due to this issue, about 20,500 of which were sold in the United States, 2,300 in Canada, 50 in Mexico and 7,400 outside of North America according to Reuters.

Over 7,000 Ram pickup trucks from model year 2013 are being recalled in order to replace the engine covers as they have less heat resistance than the company predicted. Most of the affected trucks are still at dealerships in the U.S. and Canada.

No accidents or injuries have been reported due to the issue.

Chrysler is recalling 52 Dodge Dart small cars from the 2013 model year sold in the U.S. and in Canada in order to fix an issue that may mess with the vehicle's parking brake.

The cars were all built during a 24-hour period in November and the automaker stated that the brake calipers do not meet specification.
