Breaking news: Cadillac is planning to have 8 new crossovers and sedans by the year 2022 rolls in. This report might be five years too early, but it is definitely good to know.
After the success of the XT5 crossover, Cadillac made it their mission to create more crossovers for its consumers. The success of the XT5 crossover saw more than 5,000 examples sold this past March alone.
According to a report by Motor1, the company is planning to introduce as much as four new sedans and four new crossovers to its lineup by the year 2022. This could potentially include a range-topping $250,000 SUV.
Cadillac CEO Johan de Nysschen is hoping to boost volume above the 308,000 units sold last year. He believes the company can do this by investing more than $800,000,000 into its United States retail by 2020. It can also be done by focusing on markets like China.
It was reported that the new models will include a BMW X1-sized SUV (most likely the XT1 or XT2). It will also have a larger CT8 flagship sedan expected to come out in 2021.
Fans can also expect a second-generation XT5 to rival the BMW X5, an XT4 to go against the BMW X3 and an XT7 or XT8 to match the BMW X7. Additionally, at least three new sedans will also come out including the long-awaited CTS replacement.
In a report, Automobile Magazine wrote about Cadillac's plan to release eight new crossovers and sedans. An excerpt from the report reads:
On the product side, with the sedan market that used to be Cadillac's stronghold in freefall, the brand urgently needs more crossovers. The highly profitable, truck-based Escalade will continue as a body-on-frame vehicle, though it's rumored to be getting an independent rear suspension and more powerful engines, including a supercharged V-8. However Cadillac's other upcoming SUV offerings will be lighter, more efficient, and more dynamic.
