Way back in 2006, Spyker, the low-production Dutch supercar automaker, announced that it would be manufacturing a 12-cylinder SUV named the D12 Peking to Paris. But that didn't happen, and since then, the automaker has gone through hell and back with financial woes. However, according to the company's boss, the much-awaited D12 might now become a reality.

CEO of Spyker, Victor Muller, said in an interview with an online publication about his company's upcoming products and revealed a few interesting things about the fabled SUV. He said, "It will be an advanced hybrid SUV and one of the most beautiful cars of its kind. Its specifications are already set and, if things go well, I'd dream of showing it at the Geneva motor show in 2018."

According to Autocar, the upcoming Spyker SUV will use the new Koenigsegg V8 engine, the same one destined for the C8 Preliator sports car. The car will still keep the similar Lotus-engineered aluminum platform designed for the D12 over a decade ago.

In addition, the SUV will be equipped with a range-extending electric motor to create the one being described as a Super SUV that has an advanced hybrid powertrain.  Muller also revealed that the production model's specs have already been developed, while the design will make the new SUV one of the most beautiful cars in the segment.

Following the SUVs launch, the automaker will also prepare to add the third member of its range by introducing a smaller and more affordable sports vehicle. Revealed in 2013 by the B6 Venator, the performance version will use a six-cylinder powertrain when it is launched, but that will not happen until the end of the decade.

Furthermore, all of Spyker's production vehicles are going to be built with CPP Manufacturing in the United Kingdom at a factory based in Coventry. The first batch will be the C8 Preliator, which is going to be limited to 100 units priced at $429,000 each.
