Honda is taking on another approach in debuting the upcoming 2017 Honda Civic Si. Instead of waiting for the annual New York Auto Show, they're taking the unveiling online, specifically live on their official YouTube channel.

The Civic Si is set to stand as the most powerful Civic sedan and coupe. And it is the last remaining piece of the puzzle, alongside the new Civic and the production version of the Type R.

Both the coupe and sedan production versions will finally grace Honda's official YouTube page on April 6, Thursday, beginning at 8am (PDT) or 11am (Eastern Time). Honda will also showcase the Civic Si's track capabilities.

Honda unveiled the prototype of the 2017 Honda Civic Si just ahead of last year's LA auto show. And similarly with the Civic Type R prototype, there probably won't be much change between the production version and concept form.

The 2017 Honda Civic Si will be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Other than this, other specific details are still shrouded in mystery.

But Honda accidentally divulged the vehicle's torque in an email to fans, which is around 192 lb-ft. The company, however, noted that other additional information will be revealed on April 6 including its official horsepower, price range, and date of availability.

The 2017 Honda Civic Si concept's interior was filled with athletic touches, so the production version could have as close an interior as the concept version. There are special sports seats, red TFT display, red lighting for its audio system, Si badging, and aluminum shift knob and pedals.

Both the Civic Type R and the 2017 Honda Civic Si will be on sale later this year. And perhaps Honda will also bring the Civic Si at the New York Auto Show for those who want to bask in all its glory.
