The Ford Bronco is making its comeback to give Ford fans a chance to experience and give rivals a tough fight in the segment. The 2018 Ford Bronco will return as a midsize 4X4 SUV.
Ford currently has a crossover that is based on the Ranger in the form of the Everest. Some speculations suggest that the new Bronco will have a revised version of this model. However, Ford might come up with a two or four door crossover also based on the Everest but with a modern-classic designed inspired by the original Bronco. This has been presented a few times and based on the results, it looks impressive.
When it comes to the interior, the 2018 Ford Bronco will not be soft and cushy. The car is expected to get some traits from the Wrangler. By this, the new Bronco will be built with off-road in mind.
In addition, it will come with a soft and compliant suspension but with a rugged interior which will resist wear and tear far better than other regular crossovers. Some models will also get dirt-resistant upholstery, water-proof instruments, auxiliary buttons, and other improvements to make the vehicle a better road machine.
Ford's Joe Hinrichs said in a statement describing the upcoming Bronco, "a no-compromise midsize 4x4 utility for the thrill-seekers who want freedom and off-road functionality, with the space and versatility of an SUV. It's capable of conquering everything from your daily commute to gravel roads and boulders."
Under the hood, it's speculated to get a 2.0 L or 2.3 L four-cylinder engine that produces 250 hp. Another engine choice is a 2.7-liter twin turbo engine that produces 325 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. A diesel engine also might be available. It can have a 0.5 liter in-line, five turbo engine but a bit remodeled so that its power and gas economy would not be affected. A six-speed manual also is expected together with a six or ten speed automatic as an option.
The 2018 Ford Bronco's price until now is still unknown, but it's obvious that Ford wants to compete with the Jeep Wrangler. The new Bronco is also slated to built at the Michigan Assembly Plant. Stay tuned for more updates for this much-anticipated Ford Bronco.
