In Italy, the Lamborghini Huracan is more than just a supercar strolling the streets. It is a crime-fighting supercar which helps arrest speed freaks.
Italy's police force is now equipped with one of the most celebrated supercars of all time - the Lamborghini Huracan. They were delivered to the Interior Minister Marco Minniti in a ceremony last Thursday.
The Huracan will soon enter service on the roads of northern Italy. According to news reports, the supercar will be used for special assignments only.
Special assignments are classified, such as the urgent transport of blood and organs. However, when the Lamborghini Huracan is not used for speedy deliveries, it will be used to patrol the highways on the Italian city of Bologna.
According to the manufacturer, one of the main purposes of the Huracan is to chase down speeders. In fact, the supercar was specially made for this purpose.
The Huracan comes as a standard all-wheel drive with aluminum carbon fiber hybrid chassis. But that's not all this car can be proud of, it is also equipped with the latest gadgets against crimes.
The latest gadgets in question include an on-board police tablet computer. Physically, this Huracan fits the definition of a "police car."
It is fully decorated with police decal, and it even comes in the official color of the Italian police. The color is police medium blue.
The Lamborghini Huracan police car also features the standard cop-issue gun holster, a portable extinguisher, and a VHF police radio. It also comes with hooks to hold the "paletta."
The "paletta" is the traditional hand-held red-and-white "stop sign, in place. Under the hood, this police car comes with an aspirated V10 engine which can produce up to 610 horsepower.
It can go 0 to 62 in just 3.2 seconds, and it can go as fast as 201 miles per hour. While Italy is not the first country to have a supercar as its police patrol, but it sure is a great feat.
