Drag racers are a nifty way of settling which car really is on top of the other. However, car experts and enthusiasts can actually predict the outcome of these drag races by simply looking at the specs. Alternatively, one exciting way of doing this is by pitting a heavily modified car against a tested supercar.
This is exactly what the team behind BTBoard.com did. They picked a Lamborghini Huracan LP5800-2 against a BMW E30 M3. One might say that this looks like a beginning of a bad joke, but that is until they see what is under the hood of the BMW M3.
According to The Drive, the BMW M3 was kitted with a 5.0-liter V10 S85B50 DOHC engine, something that can transform this rather understated car into a drag race demon. The V10 engine packs 500-horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque.
Looking at the specs sheet, the Huracan is still at an advantage packing a 580-horsepower engine delivered on two-wheels, according to BMW Blog. However, the BMW M3 is significantly lighter than the Huracan supercar.
Looking at the two cars on the starting line and one will most likely pick the Huracan. Throughout the race, the BMW M3 was seen picking up speed and leaving the Huracan behind. When the M3 reach the finish line, it is about two car lengths ahead of the Huracan.
The modified BMW E30 M3 is what is known in the racing community as a "sleeper" car. Something that looks unassuming on the exterior, but packs enough firepower to smoke even the best in the business. Case in point, the Lamborghini Huracan is widely considered as one of the best supercars ever to hit the road. To relive the glory of the BMW M3, check out the video below and see for yourself.
