2017 Volkswagen Touareg: More Upscale But Can Do Better In Fuel Economy

The 2017 Volkswagen Touareg has been recently spied without being disguised too much as before. With this, a lot of the SUV's characteristics were on display giving industry experts and car enthusiasts a lot to talk about. It did bare its soul for everyone to critique and judge. By the looks of it, the exterior doesn't disappoint.

According to Auto Portal, after being spied without any disguise or camouflage, one is sure to have a new Volkswagen SUV which is considered more upscale and more urban in terms of its interior styling. The 2017 Volkswagen Touareg will be a five-seater SUV and is placed above the Tiguan for the global market.

The Touareg was part of Volkswagen's preview at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. The preview also showed a concept model had a hybrid model under the hood. It also gives a lot of powerful as it is reported to produce 386-bhp and torque of 700Nm. It can also go full-electric mode for up 80 kms.

The 2017 Touareg is also expected to come as more angular with LED lighting on the front. Based on the looks and shape, it can be compared to the Atlas but it has a shorter wheelbase and bigger front grille. Both the front and rear lamp clusters will be horizontally placed totally depicting what was shown at the Beijing Auto Show.

As added by The Car Connection, although the Touareg brought in a lot of excitement because of its undisguised model, there are areas that it did not do very well. For instance, the site only gave it a rating of 5 out 10 points for fuel economy. Well, it is disappointing to be straight to the point. It only rates 17 mpg city, 19 mpg combined. Other SUVs offer better fuel economy with some even hitting above 20s.

It, however, did well on other categories such as Styling, Comfort and Quality, Features, and Performance. All categories were rated 7 points out a possible 10, so not too shabby. The 2017 Volkswagen Touareg also does not get rave reviews for the absence of a third row and for being a little low on high-tech options.
