The all new Peugeot 3008 SUV is now better than ever. The car comes with a top-notch interior, latest technological features, refined drive, and competitive engine range. Peugeot has also equipped its 3008 with new innovations such as the Grip Control and Hill Assist Descent system.

Standard UK had a chance to test the new 3008 SUV with grip control and hill assist descent system, against an identical model without these features, and a four-wheel-drive version that is not available in Britain. In acceleration test on ice, with the grip control, the 3008 kept right on track with the 4WD car.

It also managed to beat the 4WD car in a test that involved applying maximum power while going around an icy corner. The system limits the amount of power that goes to the driving wheels to the maximum for the conditions. The hill assist descent system controls the car progress on steep, snowy or muddy inclines. The system limits the car to walking speed and it would only be needed only on very steep inclines.

The Grip Control option that costs around£260 (depends on the model), is not as good as a full 4WD system in all conditions. But it provides much better control without the extra weight and costs involved in all-wheel-drive.

According to Auto Express, Peugeot bosses have confirmed that a high-performance plug-in hybrid version of the new 3008 SUV will be launched in 2019. As told by Peugeot’s director Laurent Blanchet, the hybrid version will be available with the 1.6 THP petrol engine that is going to be combined with electric motors on the rear axle, and together they will produce around 300 horsepower. He also said that the plug-in would send power on all four wheels. In 2019, Peugeot will also introduce an all-electric 208, with power and range capability to rival a Renault Zoe.
