Tesla is now aiming to accelerate the advent of sustainable energy. Kurt Kelty, the company's director of battery technology, gave a keynote address during the International Battery Seminar in Florida teasing the company's plans to install chargers and solar roof in the houses of EV owners.
Kurt Kelty discussed Tesla's vision regarding energy management in houses. The keynote, as transcribed by Evannex, says Tesla sees the company as the EV provider even in the comfort of homes.
Tesla's future plans include setting up chargers in the garage of the EV owners. The company also envisions a solar product, could be in the form of a solar roof or other forms, being set up in the house of the EV owners.
Interestingly, the best part is that EV owners can freely manipulate in a snap. Kurt Kelty further notes that the EV owners can have full control of the solar product, the EV and the battery pack by using their mobile phone. In pursuit of maximum convenience, Tesla foresees such kind of future for the homes of EV owners.
Kurt Kelty has previously worked with Panasonic, a popular battery manufacturer, prior to joining Tesla. The director vouched for the impressive efforts of Panasonic in creating Tesla's newest 2017 battery cells.
According to the director, Panasonic reigns in the aspect of producing high quality, dependable, consistent and affordable batteries. The battery manufacturer has established outstanding production system that is very effective for them.
Moreover, the keynote also mentioned that Panasonic has begun producing the new battery cell at Tesla's Gigafactory 1 in Nevada since January this year. The report boasts that the Gigafactory is the largest partnership the two companies have engaged in, Electrek reported.
Kurt Kelty also mentioned that they are pushing to decrease the cost per kWh as they are preparing to launch their latest flagship, the Model 3, in July. The new flagship is expected to come out as the affordable EV priced at $35,000.
The new Model 3 has been scheduled to have a production output of 10,000 units per week next year, Forbes has noted. This suggests that Tesla is expecting a huge market share since the new EV is coming out with dropped down price tag which can now be affordable by average customers.
