Land Rover pulled out all the stops to celebrate the global debut of their new Range Rover Sport at an exclusive VIP reception at Moynihan Station in New York City according to the Associated Press.
Actor Daniel Craig was on hand to reveal the all-new Range Rover Sport and even took the new vehicle out for the first ever test drive through the streets of one of the world's most "dynamic" cities.
"The all-new Range Rover Sport is an extraordinary car and we have revealed it in an extraordinary way live on the streets of its biggest selling market," said, Land Rover Global Brand Director John Edwards at the event. "It turned heads and it stopped traffic in one of the most dynamic cities in the world."
Craig reportedly "skillfully" handled the vehicle, driving it through closed off streets and delivered the Range Rover to hundreds of guests on hand for the unveiling. The drive was documented by director P.B. Taylor for a film titled "The Delivery."
The movie tells the story of a driver given the duty of delivering a "top secret package" according to the Associated Press. The film starts with the vehicle's production and cumulates with Craig's historic drive through N.Y.C.
Among the star-studded guests included former New York Giant and current "Live! With Kelly and Michael" host Michael Strahan, the lead singer of Duran Duran Simon Le Bon, and Ralph Lauren model Doug Pickett.
The new model features a choice between a 340hp 3-liter supercharged V6 engine and a 510hp 5-liter supercharged V8 according to the Associated Press. The new vehicle is only 191-inches long, making it smaller than most mid-sized sedans.
"The new Range Rover Sport represents a step change in engineering and technology; it is almost half a ton lighter resulting in significant CO2 savings and it's faster, more agile and more dynamic than ever," said Edwards at the event.
The Range Rover will go on sale this fall and the film "The Delivery" is now available here on the Land Rover website.
