Airbus made is another aspiring bid to relieve traffic congestion in the cities with the use of a flying car. But this time, the airplane manufacturing company (Airbus) is partnering up with a car design company (Italdesign) to make the best "flying car" for everyone to see.

According to Express Co. UK, the new flying car is named Pop.Up which is composed of a modular capsule which can detach and attach to a pair of drone-like propellers. The Pop.Up will be controlled by Artificial Intelligence and can be called by future passengers using an app. It is foreseen as the first fully electric, zero emission vehicle that is an answer to growing traffic congestion by 2030.

Futurism reported though that the driver-less capsule, built like a smart car, has the option of being driven as a car or flown like a helicopter. Airbus General Manager Mathias Thomsen said the urban skies are much under-utilized now as a mode of transportation. The flying car is definitely going to meet the transport needs of the future, said Thomsen.

Wired mentioned that the two-seater passenger capsule, otherwise called a "cocoon", is made of carbon fiber. The cocoon is 2.6 meters in length, and 1.4 meters high and 1.5 meters wide. However, Express is not too keen on the concept of the flying car that needs to take off in the airport. It doesn't accept the idea that the car needs to get an air clearance first. It somehow defies the concept of a "take-off and go". This definitely takes some time.

Likewise, it's hard to find people who would put their life into the hands of two drone propellers. Knowing that it can collide and clip each. But with the continuous rise of automobiles that congests the roads, Airbus sees flying cars as the answer to traffic problems. Although Airbus doesn't have any plans to build the Pop.Up yet, it might be up and about in five to ten years away.
