Mercedes-Benz is facing a complaint in China. Chery Automobile filed a complaint at the well-known brand for using its trademark eQ, probably banning the name use in China.

The Chinese automobile company filed the complaint at China's Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. This might prevent the well-known brand on using EQ on the models sold in its country.

The company stressed that using the name would have an impact on its trademark rights. In the past two years, Chery Automobile has been using the same name eQ in an electric model that it created, reported The Drive.

To add insult to injury, the car that it created is also an electric car like the one Mercedes-Benz launched on the 2016 Paris Auto Show. This complaint can cause a setback for the international brand in creating an electronic vehicle line in China.

To be completely honest, this is not the first time the international brand created a car that has an eQ on it. It could be remembered that Mercedes-Benz used the term EQ Power on their 2017 Formula One car and Mercedes-AMG GT concept, reported Motor Authority.

Apparently, the international brand is not the only company that faced a similar issue in China, even Tesla did. Zhan Baosheng, a Chinese resident, had already trademarked the name Tesla.

Because of this, Tesla was forced to work under the name Tuosole. Luckily in 2014, they had an agreement with Baosheng to use its name Tesla.

A previous report stated that China did have a fully automated car called Chery eQ. It was manufactured by Baidu, which is considered as the Google of China.

The car was specifically created for Chinese customers. Through the use of this car, Chinese consumers will have an enhanced mapping technology which allows users to collect data on local traffic.

Chery eQ is small and has a round cabin, looking like Google's self-driving car. To date, there has been no statement on Mercedes-Benz regarding the matter.
