SsangYong has just released teaser photos of the upcoming third generation Rexton ahead of its launch next week. The photos confirm the new model's exterior and interior designs.
The all-new Rexton has internal codename Y400 and will carry the LIV-2 concept which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last September 2016. The LIV-2 design concept refers to the second "Limitless Interface Vehicle" concept of the brand.
The bold lines on the new Rexton appear to be sharper and more detailed than the previous model. This new design seems to enable the new model to exude greater confidence.
The new model has bigger specs than the previous one. The 2017 SsangYong Rexton is now taller, wider and longer through its new wheelbase and frame, Zee News reported.
The interior of the new model appears to have been greatly enhanced too. The new SUV carries more equipment similar to the gesture SsangYong has taken with the Tivoli SUV.
The new Rexton sports a 2.2-liter diesel engine. SsangYong is reportedly offering a 2.0-liter petrol version as well. The fact that the engine options have been finalized seem to confirm that the new model is already set to enter production soon.
Furthermore, the 2017 SsangYong Rexton boasts of its latest and cleaner versions of diesel and petrol engines. The new model has also been confirmed to sport the latest quad-frame giga-steel body structure which is designed to enhance strength as well as decreasing the weight of the car.
AutoExpress further notes that the new model has the latest ladder frame chassis. SsangYong is said to replace the chassis of the Korando Sports pick-up truck by 2018 based on this new ladder frame chassis as well.
The upcoming 2017 SsangYong Rexton is expected to be released in South Korea immediately after its launch. Whereas, the UK release has been set by the end of the year.
