Nissan and Gibson Partner Up To Make NV200 Mobile Guitar Workshop Van (PHOTOS)

Nissan and Gibson have joined together to create the Gibson NV200 Compact Repair and Restoration Van, which will debut at the New York International Auto Show.

The van acts as a mobile guitar repair shop designed to help working musicians and casual player's needs. Both companies envision the van appearing at places like major music festivals, concerts and recording studios according to the Associated Press.

The companies claim the vehicle has a "class-leading combined fuel economy" of 24 mpg, provided by a 131-horsepower 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine matched with an efficient Xtronic CVT transmission.

"The NV200 Compact Cargo van's small footprint makes it ideal for maneuvering in tight places, which is perfect for both urban music venues and crowded outdoor concerts where space is at a premium," said Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz in a press statement. "The large cargo bay with standard integrated mounting points and available cargo hooks help make the vehicle configurable and customizable to suit the needs of a working guitar technician."

The new Gibson van, built by Nissan, acts as an extension of Gibson Pro Audio and Gibson's Repair & Restoration shop, based in Nashville, Tennessee. The facility is well known around the country as many of the "best and brightest" guitar players visit to build a customized guitar.

The NV200 provides 122 cubic feet of cargo space located behind the front seats and a 53-inch cargo height, which is a respectable number compared to other standard full-size vans. The vehicle can hold up to 1,500 pounds according to a company press release.

Right behind the front seat is a custom rack that can hold up to four different guitars waiting to be repaired.

"The Nissan NV200 Compact Cargo van is perfect for small businesses, entrepreneurs and dreamers," said Joe Castelli , vice president, Commercial Vehicles and Fleet, Nissan North America in a press statement. "By partnering with Gibson on the NV200 Mobile Repair & Restoration Van, we're showing the ultimate expression of what can be done with this vehicle for those with a viable business concept, a little creativity and with a starting price of $19,990, an appreciation of great value."

The NV200 will debut on Mar. 27 at the 2013 New York International Auto Show.
