Honda Accord, Civic, Toyota Camry Top LoJack's Most Stolen And Recovered Cars List (VIDEO)

LoJack Corp. released its fourth annual Vehicle Theft Recovery Report today, Mar. 21, which is designed to show auto theft trends over the past year based on statistics in 28 states.

The study only included vehicles that have a LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System which helped police officials around the country recover $125 million worth of stolen vehicles.

The study states that a vehicle is stolen every 44 seconds in the U.S., and the recovery rate for those vehicles is at a 30-year low according to FBI reports.

"Unlike other location-based systems, LoJack Police Tracking Computers can find vehicles in some of the most secluded locations, including shipping containers that are hidden amongst thousands of others onboard a ship that is about to depart the United States," said Patrick Clancy, vice president of law enforcement for LoJack, in a press statement.

For the third consecutive year in a row, the Honda Accord was ranked as the most stolen and recovered vehicle equipped with LoJack system.

The top 10 most stolen and recovered vehicles in 2012 were:

    1. Honda Accord

    2. Honda Civic

    3. Toyota Camry

    4. Acura Interga

    5. Toyota Corolla

    6. Chevrolet Silverado

    7. Cadillac Escalade

    8. Nissan Maxima

    9. Nissan Altima

   10. Chevrolet Tahoe

States with the highest 2012 auto-theft rates were California, Texas, Florida, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Arizona, Maryland, Georgia and Washington, respectively. Approximately 19 percent more stolen hybrids were recovered in 2011 than in 2010 according to the report.

The oldest vehicle stolen and recovered was a 1956 Chevy Bel Air.

"The findings released today in the LoJack Vehicle Theft Recovery Report prove two things: today's thieves are highly skilled professionals and that the LoJack recovery device can be highly effective in thwarting their attempts," said Clancy in a press statement. "LoJack's data doesn't lie; there is significant value in every single LoJack device sold. They help recover thousands of stolen cars, trucks and SUVs each year."
