Obama’s Limo Breaks Down In Israel After Being Filled With Diesel By Mistake (PHOTOS/ VIDEO)

One of President Barack Obama's armored Cadillac limousine broke down in Israel after its driver filled it with diesel fuel by mistake according to CNN.

The limo, known as the "Beast," failed to start and required towing in Jerusalem at approximately 10:00 a.m. local time. Obama, who had landed in Tel Aviv at noon, was not in the country yet when the limo was towed according to a White House official.

Obama was picked up in a replacement limo that was flown in from a U.S. facility via plane according to the Times of Israel.

A number of different official vehicles are usually flown ahead of time to places all around the world that Obama will be visiting. During his trip to the Mideast, the president will make stops in Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv in Israel, and Ramallah in the West Bank according to CNN.

There a "multiple, identical" copies of the "Beast" that are used to take Obama all over Washington and on his trips around the country as well. The limo weighs an estimated 8 tons according to White House officials.

The president's ride features bulletproof glass, doors, and windows that seal shut in the event of a gas attack. It's also equipped with "multiple" inches of armor and special shocks designed to handle blasts.

When most people pull up to a gas station, they don't think using diesel or gas is a big deal, but as most car enthusiast will tell you, it matters greatly.

Diesel engines are designed differently from gas engines in the way their internal combustions are created. Diesel engines operate by using compressed air to generate heat that lets makes the fuel ignite according to CNN. Gas engines use spark plugs to ignite fuel.

If a gas vehicle uses diesel instead it could cause significant damage to the pistons and connecting rods which could be destroyed if the fuel is ignited at the wrong time.

All models used by the president are built by GM, and can go for an estimated $300,000.
