Mercedes-Benz E350 VS BMW 530d – Battle of the Titans

Every generation of BMW”s 5 Series is equipped with latest toys and technologies which is understandable. However, whenever BMW has a new 5 Series, Mercedes is also there with an E-Class to start the battle.

Independent put a brand new BMW 530d against Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Both cars need 5 seconds to go from 0-60 mph and combined mpg figures are close as well. Mercedes is achieving this with the help of its nine-speed transmission, while BMW comes with an eight-speed transmission. Both of the cars are packed with an insane amount of cutting-edge technology. For instance, BMW knows when corners are coming up and prepares itself for them.

E-Class, on the other hand, slows the car down for you when it sees a speed limit sign coming up. Mercedes-Benz E-Class comes with a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that outputs 258 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. On the inside, the E-Class comes with heated leather seats, a full-length panoramic sunroof, two 12.3-inch digital displays that dominate the dash, plenty of media controls, 13-speaker Burmester audio system, and more. Pricing starts at £48,020.

According to BMW blog, despite the low popularity in the U.S., diesel play an important role in the European market. The BMW 530d offers a perfect combination of fuel efficiency, power and starting price. The car is equipped with a 3.0-liter diesel engine that outputs 265 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. It has an overall consumption of 47 mpg. On the inside, the M Sport package includes sport heated seats, leather steering wheel, aluminum trim, and more.

On the outside, the M Aerodynamic package makes plenty of changes. The front apron comes with larger air intakes, there’s diffusor-style rear apron, side skit trim, an exhaust system in the back which includes two rectangular tailpipes, and M light-alloy wheels.

In the United Kingdom, the BMW 530d starts at £43,835.
The E-Class is more dynamic than its predecessors. However, on the outside, the car doesn’t look exciting at all. BMW 530d, on the other hand, has hardly any flaws. It has got everything that the E-Class has, and makes it even better. It is clear that BMW 530d delivers the best package of features and comforts.
