Carnival Legend: Cruise Line In More Trouble As Fourth Incident This Year Cuts Trip Short (VIDEO)

Carnival Corp stated today, Mar. 15, that its Carnival Legend ship, while on the last leg of a seven-day cruise, was having difficulties that affected how fast the ship could move according to Reuters.

The issue caused Carnival to cancel a stop at Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands and instead will go directly to its final destination in Tampa Florida.

The ship is expected to dock on Mar. 17.

The ship was able to reach every destination but the final one, before the crew decided it would be safer to just get everyone back as soon as possible to prevent another stranded cruise ship incident.

For skipping the last stop, the company announced they'll give each passenger onboard $100 credit and 50 percent off a future Carnival cruise according to Reuters. All hotel services and safety systems are "functioning normally" according to a company spokesman.

Carnival CFO David Bernstein stated that while he's disappointed the latest trip was cut short, he's "hopeful" the next Legend will be able to sail the entire scheduled trip.

If this was the only incident to happen recently than the company would probably be given some slack. This however was the fourth to happen in 2013 alone.

On Mar. 16, the company's Dream ship was stopped in St. Maarten after an emergency diesel generator malfunctioned during testing according to Reuters.

Last weekend, a tugboat had to rescue their Elation ship and guide it down the Mississippi River due to mechanical problems.

While both incidents were bad, the worst occurred last month when the Carnival Triumph suffered electric issues in the Gulf of Mexico for days. The problem occurred when an electrical fire in the engine-room knocked out the power and plumbing throughout most of the ship according to Reuters.
