It's obvious that there are already a lot of excellent compacts cars that are available today, all having their own strengths. But when it comes to practicality, the 2017 Nissan Sentra is worth a choice. It's roomy, fuel-efficient and a solid value for the customer's money.
For this year, the new 2017 Nissan Sentra gets a new performance-oriented SR Turbo model. Other upgrades will include a thick glass for improved sound deadening and a bigger center console.
This compact sedan stands out in its class by its uncommonly spacious interior, with a rear seat that can rival those many midsize models in terms of head and legroom. Also, with its trunk, it offers nearly as much cargo capacity as those of full-size sedans.
The new Sentra is a five-passenger compact sedan that is offered in S, SV, SR, SR Turbo and SL trim levels. The base model S comes with a 16-inch steel wheels, air-conditioning, automatic headlights, remote keyless entry, a height-adjustable driver seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, 60/40 split folding rear seatbacks, cruise control, Bluetooth phone connectivity and a four-seated sound system with a CD player, an auxiliary audio input jack and a USB port.
Under the hood, the new Sentra is available with two engines. A 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 130 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque will come standard on the S, SV, SR and SL models. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the S, while a continuously variable automatic transmission is also optional on the S model and standard on all other Sentras.
The new SR Turbo is equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder which produces hp and 177 lb-ft. It's paired with a choice of a six-speed manual or a calibrated CVT with manual shift mode.
On the inside, the new Sentra offers an interior that's bigger than seems possible when viewed from the outside. The front and rear seats give an excellent headroom and legroom, even for 6-footers.
Another feature includes NissanConnect, a system that will allow each driver to take advantage of smartphone-based apps such as Google search via 5.8-inch touchscreen. The vehicle's trunk also has a 15.1 cubic feet of storage.
The 2017 Nissan Sentra also comes loaded with safety features such as antilock brakes, stability control, side curtain airbags and front-seat side airbags. A rearview camera will be offered to start at the SV trim level. In addition, the SR and SL trim levels can also be equipped with blind-spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert and adaptive cruise control that comes with automatic emergency braking.
