The 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport is a good addition as it is smaller than the Rogue. The Rogue enjoyed the reputation as Nissan's best-selling vehicle of its class and the Sport is expected to continue its sales success. Being a smaller version, some of its features are reported to be compromised, however, it makes up on other aspects enough to make it one of the best still.
According to Truck Trend, the 2018 Rogue Sport has decreased somehow significantly in all areas. The wheelbase has decreased by 2.3-inches which translate to overall foot decrease because of its rear overhang. The width has decreased by 0.1-inch (which can go unnoticed) and height has gone down 5.6-inches less. If width can be shrugged off, the decrease in overall height may be a problem, especially for the taller drivers and passengers.
Its cargo capacity is still, well, generous as it can accommodate 22.9 cubic feet of load which can be expanded to 61.1 cubic feet when rear seats are folded. As for the interior, the space of Rogue Sport is almost similar to the conventional Rogue. As the entire crossover is smaller, hip space is compromised and may be bothersome to others.
This latest Nissan crossover is also less powerful compared to the Rogue. The 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport's 2.0-liter inline-four engine produces 141-horsepower and 147 pound-feet of torque as compared to the conventional 2.5-liter inline-four capable of 170-horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. It routes its power through CVT and is available on either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Though size and power have been compromised, safety is still one of its notable features. It does have Nissan Intelligent Safety Shield technology which includes forward collision mitigation and pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic monitoring. These features make this compact crossover one of the safest there is.
Being small also can be considered advantageous. Having its decrease in size may translate to better fuel economy. Though no official numbers are available, the 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport may register around 27 mpg in the city and say, 35 mpg on the hi-way. Being short means it may also have better handling, being able to negotiate steep and sharp curves compared to the bigger Rogue.
As added by Auto Guide, the 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport will also have a seven-inch touchscreen and other standard features such as Bluetooth connectivity, USB inputs, and a rear-view camera. The most awaited availability of this compact crossover is reported to be starting this spring. Pricing has yet to be made official by Nissan.
