The Lexus UX Concept was revealed during last year's fall has just been confirmed to be making its way into production. The production version of the UX will be joining the car company's lineup of SUVs soon.

Lexus UX Concept production version confirmed. The confirmation of a production version of the concept SUV came from Yoshihiro Sawa who is the executive vice president of Lexus International at the Geneva Auto Show. Speaking with Australian publication Motoring, Sawa confirmed this at the Geneva Auto Show. Sawa did not mention when exactly the SUV will go into production but he did say that "it's not so far away".

The production version of the UX Concept SUV will be an entry-level model and will slot just below the NX. The vehicle will allow Lexus to go head-to-head with competitors such as the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and the Mercedes-Benz GLA-class. Currently, the NX is the company's most affordable vehicle.

The Lexus NX is a bit larger and is 182.3 inches long. The UX, on the other hand, is only 173.2 inches long. It is expected to cost little less than the NX which has a starting price of US$36,260. The UX sports an extremely futuristic design. This may change once it actually goes into production although other aspects of the vehicle may be left untouched. If this would be the case, it should be expected that the vehicle will look as polarizing as it does now with Lexus signature spindle grille on the front of the vehicle.

Although it is expected to be smaller than the NX, the Lexus UX is expected to feature the powertrains of its larger SUV sibling. According to Car and Driver, the Lexus has already trademarked UX200, UX250, and UX250H. The SUV could feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder and a gasoline-electric hybrid drivetrain.
