A man was arrested last week after allegedly poisoning his girlfriend with Visine according to The Union.

"We got admissions from him over the phone, when he was admitting to her, that he had done this," Lt. Steve Tripp of the Nevada County Sheriff Department said according to ABC News.

Carpenter sent text messages to friends to his friends detailing what he had done and why. He wrote in the messages he didn't intend for his girlfriend to be poisoned but rather it was just "a prank gone wrong."

Lt. Steve Tripp of the Nevada County Sheriff's Department stated that his girlfriend became suspicious after finding the text messages on Carpenter's phone according to KXTV News 10.

"He was making texts to his buddies that if 'She's going to be talking crap then she's going to be crapping,'" Tripp said according to KXTV News 10.

The woman was treated at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and didn't suffer from any serious wounds according to spokesperson for the hospital. She's since been released and is currently recovering.

Carpenter reportedly put more than one drop of Visine in the woman's drink after a heated argument broke out.

Visine is supposedly known to cause diarrhea, but the illness is not listed as one of the potential side effects if consumed.
