Gregory Rodriguez, the host of the Sports Channel show "A Rifleman's Journal," was shot and killed in Montana by a man who fled the scene and turned a gun on himself.
The alleged shooter, 41-year-old Wayne Bengston, is also dead.
TV personality was apparently visiting the shooter's wife, when Bengston found the two together and allegedly shot Rodriguez before beating his wife, fleeing the scene and killing himself, according to a CBS News report.
The relationship between Rodriguez and Bengton's wife is unclear. Bengton's wife told police that Rodriguez was in town on business and visiting her at her mother's house when her husband showed up Thursday night, the article said.
After shooting Rodriguez and beating his wife, Bengton then drove his 2-year-old son to a relative's house before traveling 25 miles to his home and apparently killing himself upon arrival, CBS reported.
Sheriff's deputies found Bengston's truck parked in the driveway of his home. SWAT team members tried contacting Bengston inside the house before finding his body in the truck with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, the report stated.
In addition to his work on "A Rifleman's Journal," Rodriguez was the founder and CEO of Global Adventure Outfitters, the report stated.
Rodriguez was also credited in the report to have been an editor at Shooting Times Magazine and a contributing editor at Petersen's Hunting, Guns & Ammo and Dangerous Game.
Before founding Global Adventure Outfitters Rodriguez was a mortgage banker, CBS reported. He has hunted in 21 countries, often as part of filming for his TV show, which featured him hunting in exotic locations, the report said.
