Microsoft's Surface Phone is apparently being delayed much further. The delay is reportedly caused by the Redmond-based tech giant switching their focus in the struggling Windows 10 Mobile OS.

Microsoft Surface Phone to be delayed much further. It was initially speculated that Microsoft is working hard on the smartphone as a successor to the company's Lumia line of smartphones. However, news claims that the tech company has significantly pushed back the highly anticipated Windows-based smartphone's release date.

Moving the smartphone's release date is reportedly due to the company wanting to focus more on the Windows 10 Mobile platform before releasing the smartphone. The news comes from a Reddit post by a user claiming to be a former Microsoft contractor's employee.

According to the user who goes by the handle 'zombieacc', the smartphone will "probably" be launched sometime in late 2018 or 2019. This goes against earlier speculations that the smartphone will be launched later this year with the Redstone 3 Windows 10 update.

The Reddit user further claimed that the tech company will definitely push through with the device which is said to be one of the most powerful Microsoft devices. "Nobody knows what they are working on right now, but they don't seem to be giving up. Some special phone-PC-like Windows 10 ARM device will probably arrive in late 2018 or 2019. I have no more info on that, but I think Windows 10 ARM is much further away than some of us hope," he said.

There are speculations saying that Microsoft is waiting for ARM's hardware to be able to support x86 and Windows. ARM's hardware will allow the highly anticipated smartphone to sport high-performance connectivity and other technological features that will revolutionize the mobile device industry. The Redmond-based tech company is most likely waiting for ARM's technology to catch up before releasing the Surface Phone.
