NASCAR driver Danica Patrick is reportedly okay after getting hit in the head by a rock while attending the World of Outlaws show according to a report by the Associated Press.
Patrick stated that she got smacked by a rock on March 7, leaving her "feeling like she had a concussion" a day after. She said she felt lucky she had a hat on because if she didn't there "would have been blood."
The NASCAR rookie said it hit her straight in the head, but the infield care center checked her out and pronounced her healthy.
"The safety crew does a great job," Patrick said according to Fox Sports. "The cars are safer than they've ever been. I said after last weekend, I'm glad I didn't race in the era of a lack of SAFER barriers because I don't know what it's like without them.
This week has been a dangerous one for Patrick as she was involved in a crash last Sunday in Phoenix. The driver slammed into a wall with approximately 100 laps left, leaving her "stiff" in the neck.
"I know the hits feel hard and my neck was sore after last weekend for sure, which it has never been sore before after a wreck, so either my training program is off or it was just that big of a hit or maybe because it was both sides," Patrick said according to the Associated Press.
Patrick is in Las Vegas for Sunday's Kobalt Tools 400 NASCAR race. She finished fourth in a race at the same track while racing in the Nationwide Series two years ago according to The Los Angeles Times. This is Patrick's first full season as a NASCAR driver and stated before the season started she was focus on winning the Spring Cup.
Last month Patrick became the first woman to ever win a pole position and lead green-flag laps at the Daytona 500. She finished eighth overall.
