The 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 has been confirmed to return. The new model's specs match the Porsche 911 R and GT3 RS. Porsche claims the new model can deliver 500 horsepower and has an acceleration rate of only 3.2 seconds.
Just when GT3 fanatics thought the model has been completely put to shelves, official photos for the upcoming 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 have surfaced. The automaker released teasers confirming the great comeback of the GT3.
It has been three years since the model went on hiatus. Now, the much-awaited comeback will greatly satisfy its followers as the upcoming 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 will return with so much better things to offer.
The new GT3 boasts of its greater power despite the absence of turbocharger. It also sports a new oil pump, larger-diameter main bearing, stiffer crankshaft, and few tweaks.
Aside from the return of the model, the option sheet also reveals the return of the manual transmission variant. The best part is that, this option comes with no additional cost.
The upcoming GT3 has six-speed manual transmission variant, which is reportedly a copy from the very limited production of the 911 R. The former 3.8-liter unit has been replaced by a 4.0-liter six-pack.
This new 4.0-liter engine in the new model can now deliver 500 horsepower which meant a 25 horsepower improvement. Whereas, the former model is only able to deliver 475 horsepower.
The upcoming GT3 is coming out stronger as its Torque has been improved too. The new model can now deliver 339 lb-ft of torque, which is a great improvement with the previous model's 324 lb-ft only.
Furthermore, the automaker claims that they have created a speedy beast in this upcoming 2018 Porsche 911 GT3. The new model also boasts of its capacity to accelerate 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. It also claims the new beast can only lose steam at 197 mph.
According to Porsche, this speed of 3.2 seconds only apply to the PDK-standard model. The other variant, stick-shift, can accelerate at a little slower rate of 3.8 seconds, CarAndDriver repoted.
The 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 is set to be released in the U.S. dealerships this fall for a price of $144,650, Autoguide has noted.
