AMD Ryzen Sales Look Strong, But AM4 Motherboard Makers Fail To Meet The Market's Demand?

Based on recent hardware benchmarks, the AMD Ryzen processors are easily one of the best products the company has released in recent memory. However, some tech analysts have said that the ultimate performance of Ryzen processors is bottlenecked by one important factor, the short supply of motherboard models that support AMD's new platform.

Ryzen is a completely new architecture from AMD and it runs on the new AM4 platform. Following the release of the new processor family, tech analysts and consumers alike have complained about the utter lack motherboard choices from AMD's partners.

A report published by Legit Reviews cited an anonymous motherboard manufacturer about irregularities regarding how AMD coordinates with its partner motherboard makers. According to Extreme Tech, from AMD's standpoint, the lack of AM4 motherboard choices stems from the fact that AMD Ryzen chips are selling like hotcakes, the latter part of that is actually true. However, there is a completely different story when it comes to the side of motherboard manufacturers.

In a statement acquired by Legit Reviews, the anonymous motherboard manufacturer said, "In general, it's been too long for AMD to launch a new CPU, so they forgot how to do it, so they launched the CPU just like they were launching the graphics card. They didn't care about the platform eco-system, so the eco-system is suffering and stock is delayed."

Aside from the shortage of AM4 motherboard stocks, recent reviews have pointed out the memory limitation issue with Ryzen processors. Some tech analysts said that this issue may have affected the overall sales performance of AMD Ryzen processors.

Recent benchmark results posted online revealed that the AMD Ryzen processors are promising in terms of performance. Some tech experts also said that Ryzen still has an untapped potential, especially when overclocking, which may have been restricted by certain motherboard issues.
