The new Design Chief for Lamborghini, Mitja Borkert shared his insights, ideas, and plans for the next Lamborghini flagships. One thing Borkert assured is that fans are bound to witness the unexpected for Lamborghini's upcoming designs.
Borkert is the epitome of a die-hard Lamborghini fan. He spent time visiting his hero Marcello Gandini, the mind behind the Miura and Countach impeccable design. When asked about this favorite Lamborghini of all time, without a doubt he answered the 1971 Countach. A previous employee of Porsche responsible for last year's Mission-E concept, Borkert migrated to the one he truly loves which is, of course, Lamborghini. In an interview with Car Buzz, Borkert explained and hinted his plans for the production-spec Urus SUV.
"Lamborghini is the coolest brand in the world," says Borkert in the interview with Car Buzz. He shared what he thinks make Lamborghini the brand it is today. When asked about his first project the Urus SUV, he detailed that the car will exhibit proportions non-existent to other SUVs. "Everything must be super compact," says Borkert when asked about the essentials of a Lamborghini design. That being said, tight proportions combined with nowadays signature angular lines are what he will bring to the table. Borket made everything clear that fans should "expect the unexpected" for the succeeding Lamborghini designs.
According to the source, throughout the course of the interview, Borkert is sketching his all time favorite, the Countach. He lives and breathes Lamborghini the source stated. Borkert explained that the Countach timeless impression sets it apart from its Diablo successor.
Nonetheless, it is nice to hear Lamborghini's upcoming designs will come from someone who truly understands its purpose and value. Borkert made things more interesting, and surely, fans can no longer wait to see Borkert's creation once the Aventador is finally replaced.
