German automaker Volkswagen unveiled a special edition of the iconic VW Transporter at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. As part of the brand's 70th anniversary, the limited edition Volkswagen Transporter is called "70 Years of Bulli."

The Bulli started out as a sketch by Dutch Volkswagen importer Ben Pon who visited the Wolfsburg manufacturing plant about 70 years ago. The Dutch importer sketched a type of vehicle that has not been seen in any part of the world during that time. From then on, the Volkswagen Transporter became one of the most iconic and best-selling vans in the world.

The "70 Years of Bulli" VW Transporter is based on the Multivan Comfortline. There are some design cues borrowed from the California and Highline models such as the chrome trim and wood-look floor. Nevertheless, the limited-edition Bulli looks surprisingly fresh despite the huge amount of history on its name.

The new Bulli sports a two-tone color of Metallic Kurkuma Yellow and Candy White. Considered as a sixth-generation VW Transporter, the van can be configured to sport the iconic 18-inch Disc alloy wheels complete with chrome and white accents, according to Practical Motoring.

Under the hood, the "70 Years of Bulli" packs a 2.0-liter TDI engine with 100-horsepower and a five-speed manual gearbox, according to Auto Evolution. The top-end model packs a diesel engine with 201-horsepower and a seven-speed DSG gearbox delivering power to all four wheels.

Volkswagen has yet to announce the official price of the "70 Years of Bulli" van. Although the regular Volkswagen Transporter is quite friendly to the budget, the fact that the new Bulli is a limited-edition model might cause its price to shoot up. Nevertheless, it is always awesome to own a piece of automotive history.
