Toyota finally unveiled the 2018 Toyota C-HR SUV. The C-HR is their entry to the subcompact SUV segment.
The C-HR is based on Toyota's new mid-sized global platform. The latest Prius and the upcoming Camry is also included in the said platform.
The C-HR stays true to its mid-sized nature with its 104-inch wheelbase and an overall length of 171 inches. It is also important to note that the 2018 Toyota C-HR SUV is 9 inches shorter and 2 inches narrower than the Toyota RAV4 small SUV.
These measurements put the C-HR in about the same size as the Honda HR-V, Subaru Crosstrek, and Mazda CX-3. According to reports, the C-HR will be available in two trim lines.
The trim lines will be the XLE which costs $23,460 and the XLE Premium at $25,310. It is not a secret that the pricing is a bit higher than most of its competitors by a couple of thousand dollars.
However, the 2018 Toyota C-HR SUV is the only subcompact sports utility vehicle to come standard with a forward-collision warning. It also has an automatic emergency braking. These two features are definitely worth it.
Not only that, but it also has Toyota's entire Safety Sense P suite of safety gear. This includes pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with a lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
Both Toyota and its luxury subsidiary Lexus are in the process of installing a forward-collision warning. Automatic emergency braking will also come as a standard equipment across their model lines.
Aside from the Safety Sense P suite of safety gear, other standard equipment on the C-HR includes 18-inch wheels and a rearview camera. The 2018 Toyota C-HR SUV XLE Premium adds heated front seats, a power lumbar driver's seat, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring.
Under the hood, it is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 144 horsepower. It's paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The 2018 Toyota C-HR SUV will be released in April this year. Stay tuned to Auto World News for more details.
