2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross made its grand debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show recently. The new Nissan Qashqai rival boasts of its gorgeous design, high-technology features, comfort and dependability.
The new Eclipse comes as a small SUV. The design includes a slope on its roofline, a high shoulder line and an angular, sculptured nose.
According to Mitsubishi, the design of the new Eclipse got its inspiration from the XR concept which was launched at 2015 Geneva Motor Show. AutoExpress has noted that the line designs of the new crossover also resemble with Toyota C-HR.
At the back, the rear spoiler looks bulky. There is also a second lip encasing a long, single LED taillight on the rear window.
The new crossover is packed with a modern infotainment display which looks like a tablet. The publication mentioned that the tablet set-up looks similar with the new BMW-style tablet.
The tablet contains the brand's Smartphone Link Display software which can support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with a touchpad controller as another option for the infotainment system navigation.
Aside from the latest infotainment system, the car was also ergonomically designed. A head-up display is also provided for the driver's convenience.
With regard to space, the new Eclipse boasts of its vast space. There is enough legroom and headroom for adult passengers.
Furthermore, the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross boasts of its multi-link rear axle. This feature sets the new crossover apart from its rivals who use cheaper torsion beam.
In terms of maneuvering, the new crossover sports a faster steering rack. Placing the new Mitsubishi on the road does not require much effort as its steering rack is balanced and accurate.
Underneath, the new crossover boasts of its 1,500rpm throttle response delivered by its four-cylinder engine. Project manager Hiroyuki Kagawa mentioned that the new Eclipse can deliver about 120bhp and 200Nm of torque.
Mitsubishi has not confirmed the final specs but according to the Irish Times, the new Eclipse will first be run by a 1.5-liter turbo petrol and a 2.2-liter diesel, similar with the Outlander. The 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is also coming out with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
