British car manufacturer Bentley recently unveiled the EXP12 Speed 6e at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. This is a two-seater concept that backs the maker's growing interest in electric cars. This is particularly notable in the age of Tesla.
The Bentley EXP12 Speed 6e develops many of the themes that were first shown in the EXP10 coupe concept, which was unveiled also at Geneva two years ago. This also marks the direction of Bentley's approach in the shape of the fifth model line to which CEO Wolfgang Durheimer refers to a lot.
Road and Track says that the Bentley EXP12 Speed 6e might be the perfect alternative for those who want an electric car but think a Tesla is too basic or too nerdy. It might also be for those who think that the Faraday Future FF91 is a dream machine that will never exist. This latest offering looks like an update on the popular EXP10 Speed 6 -- a gorgeous car that looked like an Aston Martin.
For the Bentley EXP12 Speed 6e, notably maker's first fully electric concept, the top was lopped off to make a roadster and the engine had been fully replaced by an electric motor with batteries. On the inside, it is still a typical Bentley. However, for some reason, the top of the steering wheel had been cut off. The center tunnel has an OLED display. Copper accents can also be seen in and out of the car, just like what Bentley did with its Mulsanne Hybrid model.
While this two-seater sports car has not yet been signed off for production, Durheimer previously said that adding another model would place Bentley on a very sound footing for the future. He also said that the new car will be younger and much more exciting than anything on the current line up. Surely, the Bentley EXP12 Speed 6e has an uncanny appeal to a brand new market, writes Auto Car.
