The Japanese Sword Art Online is set to finally hit 150 theaters across North America, after its box office success in Japan. The "Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale" excites its American anime fans. The light novel series is totally rocking several virtual reality worlds and theaters worldwide.
According to Crunchy Roll, the animated film has now reached 1.37 billion yen of its total gross. The "Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale" started to run on February 18 in Japan and set to be on the big screen across North America this March 9. Director Tomohiko Ito revealed that it needs more than 900 million to surpass Disney's Frozen and to be rank as the third-weekend box office film.
Reki Kawahara and Tomohiko Ito explained that production of Ordinal Scale came up with a plot concept way back in 2015. The final draft of the screenplay was finished in September of the same year. The storyboard and the action scenes were set to be working with another director, as noted by Nerd Reactor. The animated film depicts the augmented reality technology blurs the lines between the real worlds and digital. Sony Music's Aniplex will distribute the animated movie.
In the movie, the all-new adventure with Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya and Asuna Yuki will feature a new experience in the game utilizing augmented reality technology. The players and their party members will explore the world of "Ordinal Scale," which will bring them to the edge in finding the smooth line between the virtual world and reality.
The "Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale" runs with Kazuto, as he also finds out those 300 SAO players, including Asuna is trapped in their NerveGear. Kazuto is deeply forming a relationship with Asuna and later marrying her in-game. As she remained trap, Asuna, meets Shouzou YÅ«ki, Asuna's father, which Nobuyuki Sugou plans of marrying Asuna is finally revealed. Thus, new adventures and unknown dangers are set to bring the hero and the worst nightmares of each player.
