Maserati CEO Reid Bigland revealed at the Geneva Motor Show that Maserati Alfieri car production would be delayed. Bigland provided 2020 as the tentative year. Thus, SUVs and hybrid cars are on the headway for giant strides.
Bigland unveiled that SUVs and hybrid cars got a significant place on every consumers' preference. He added that Porsche, for example, claimed to have 70 percent of SUVs on its market production. Bigland mentioned that Maserati aimed to develop SUV that can perform like passenger cars, as noted by Top Gear.
The future SUVS will have "Maserati DNA" concept on its product portfolios, yet the coupe should function as a passenger car. The concept plans to achieve building vehicles that consumers want to purchase. Bigland revealed that customers want to buy SUVs and GranTurismo is on the top line. Maserati is still evaluating the SUV and hybrid cars for production.
According to the spokesperson of Maserati's European division, Giulio Pastore, that Maserati would significantly focus on the launch of a new GranTurismo. However, the previous plan to debut GranTurismo Convertible was to be canceled for a convertible variety of the Alfieri-based sports car and hybrid vehicles.
Maserati Alfieri is a 2+2 grand tourer, which was first shown as a concept car at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The grand tourer is previously scheduled for a 2016 release. However, this has been delayed to 2020 to allow the Levante SUV to be launched instead.
The Maserati designer Marco Tencone revealed the production of Maserati Alfieri would receive three V6 engine choices, which producing 410 bhp, 450 bhp, and 520 bhp. Tencone added that an electric version of Maserati Alfieri is planned for 2021 at the earliest. The 520-horsepower and 450-horsepower versions will only have an all-wheel drive system.
Maserati is set to unleash its goal of offering six distinct new models in its lineup by 2018. It will be the Levante SUV, along with the Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans. The Italian automaker claimed that the Levante SUVs would offer an excellent driving experience from mild to gale force strength, similar to the Mediterranean wind it was named after.
